Overview

A rare coffee or tea set made of the finest Japanese porcelain, hand-painted.

This set consists of a teapot/coffee pot, 6 teacups, 6 saucers, milk/creamer and sugar bowl with lid.
The elements of the set are all decorated with a dragon motif, made with the "moriage" technique, in relief, on a pink and white background.
This set is made of very fine and delicate eggshell porcelain, which is very transparent. Often the porcelain had an incised decoration before firing that, like a watermark on paper, was visible only when held up to the light; this decoration is called anhua, which literally means "secret language".
After taking the last sip and looking at the bottom of the cup in the light, you will find the portrait of a certain young Japanese woman with a traditional hairstyle. The face is created thanks to 2-5 layers of porcelain mass.
Kutani (Japanese: 九谷焼, "Nine Valleys") is a type of Japanese porcelain that was made in the city of Kaga, present-day Ishikawa Prefecture.

Cup capacity: 55 ml.
Teapot capacity: 450 ml.
Milk jug capacity: 120 ml.
