Overview

Vase, porcelain, Royal Copenhagen, Denmark, height 24 cm, 1950s–1960s

This elegant porcelain vase by Royal Copenhagen is a serene expression of mid-century Scandinavian craftsmanship. Measuring 24 cm in height and 12 cm in width, it is beautifully proportioned and hand-painted with a delicate naturalistic motif: two blooming wild roses in pale blush and ivory tones, surrounded by shaded green foliage and a slender thorned branch.

Adding a poetic touch to the composition is a single butterfly, painted with exquisite softness as if gently alighting near the flowers — a subtle yet meaningful symbol of fragility and grace. The vase’s background shifts from pure white at the rim to a powdery blue toward the base, enhancing the floral and butterfly scene without distraction.

This piece is marked and numbered on the underside, as expected from Royal Copenhagen, and is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It is both functional and sculptural — perfect for flowers or as a standalone decorative accent. A refined collector’s piece, offered at a compelling price.
