The typical "Florentine technique" of working and decorating wooden objects dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries and is now considered partially lost. Florentine wooden trays are made entirely by hand. This piece included gold leaf, gilding and polishing. It is usable and is not just decorative: it is treated in such a way as to make it completely usable.
