Kutani (Japanese: 九谷焼) is a type of Japanese porcelain that was produced in the city of Kaga, modern Ishikawa Prefecture. The production standard follows the criteria established and developed by Arita. Even today, most Kutani porcelain is hand-painted. The face is created using 2-5 layers of porcelain mass.
