Limoges

Limoges porcelain is ceramic products belonging to the category of hard porcelain, the production of which was started in the French city of Limoges around 1770, immediately after the discovery of kaolin clay deposits in the immediate vicinity of Limoges. Kaolin was necessary for the production of this hard and translucent ceramics, characterized by a special whiteness. The term "Limoges porcelain" does not refer to any particular manufacturer.
