Overview

Vase, crystal, Val Saint Lambert, Belgium, 1950s

An iconic spiral vase by Val Saint Lambert, one of Belgium’s most prestigious crystal manufacturers, dating to the 1950s. This sculptural piece is a fine example of mid-century European glass design, with a striking rounded form and a flowing twisted profile that gives it movement and elegance. The thick, high-lead crystal—weighing an impressive 4.7 kg (10.36 lbs)—has been infused with manganese to achieve its distinctive violet hue, a rare and now discontinued color.

The rich, glowing tone was created by adding manganese dioxide to the crystal mass, a technique abandoned in the early 21st century due to its explosive volatility in industrial conditions. As a result, this color is no longer produced and pieces like this have become increasingly scarce and sought after on the antiques market. This particular vase model is documented in multiple Val Saint Lambert factory catalogues and remains a collector’s favorite for its blend of color mastery and sculptural form.

The vase is in excellent condition, free from chips or cracks, and serves beautifully as a statement centerpiece or investment-grade decorative object. It is a true testament to the technical artistry and bold aesthetics that defined the postwar glassmaking era.

We offer free shipping on all orders over 20,000₽ (200€). You’re welcome to combine this piece with other crystal works from our collection. Payment in other currencies is available on request.
