Overview
Jug with ice flask, removable strainer, thick cut crystal and cupronickel, Italy, mid-20th century, 3 liters
An exceptional example of mid-century Italian tableware, this large-capacity crystal jug holds 3 liters and features a built-in ice flask, perfect for serving chilled beverages elegantly and without dilution. Crafted from thick, lead-rich crystal, the body is decorated with beveled vertical carvings that shimmer in natural light, lending the piece a stately presence on any dining or buffet table.
Inside, a removable inner flask with a cork lid allows for ice to cool the contents without watering them down. This flask is fully sealed (no holes), and the jug is also equipped with a removable strainer partition, making it ideal for infusions, citrus drinks, or iced tea. The lid, spout, and sweeping handle are made of cupronickel, with a warm, slightly matte silver tone and a maker’s mark “W” stamped discreetly into the metal.
This jug balances functionality, timeless design, and vintage craftsmanship. It is both a beautiful centerpiece and a practical server for elegant gatherings—rare to find in such preserved and complete condition.
