Overview

Teapot, silver-plated, France, 19th century, Rococo Louis XV style

This extraordinary 19th-century French teapot is a brilliant example of Rococo Louis XV revival design, rich in both ornament and historical presence. Entirely silver-plated, it rests on four decorated feet and is adorned with finely engraved floral motifs that cover both the body and the lid with astonishing delicacy. The level of detail is remarkable — a true feast for the eye and a showcase of craftsmanship from a past era.

The lid is crowned with a sculptural finial in the form of a blooming bouquet, a romantic touch that echoes the floral engraving. The body’s flowing curves are balanced by an angular, architectural handle that adds contrast and character. On one side, a small cartouche framed in foliage reveals the original owner's monogram, gracefully integrated into the design.

Marked on the underside with the initials "AB", this teapot was made by a skilled 19th-century French silversmith — an artisan whose work speaks for itself. While the silver plating shows expected signs of age, including a mellow patina and minor wear, the structure is solid and the piece stands level.

A rare and decorative item, this teapot is more than a functional vessel — it is a collector’s piece with unmistakable charm and historic allure.
