Overview

A tin vessel for hot water or a coffee pot standing on a round stable base. Cover with dutsin topped with a petal. The handle is made of turned blackened wood, thanks to its simple fastening, it can be replaced over time. The inside of the coffee pot is polished and in excellent condition.

Traditional simple shape of a coffee pot with a wooden handle. In such vessels hot water or coffee was served on the table. The walls of the vessel were very thick and therefore retained the temperature of the liquid well. For a long time, almost until the end of the 19th century, pewter was a mandatory household item. For a tin item, the vessel is very well preserved. A rare interesting item for tin collectors and antique lovers.

Volume 400 ml

Tin, first half of the 20th century. Italy

Cezve - a vessel for making coffee.
It originated in the fifteenth century, and was the result of the Turkish Sultan’s understandable passion for coffee.
Initially, coffee was prepared in copper or clay pots, but these were not suitable utensils; the drink often boiled, losing its aroma. Then they tried to cook it in jugs similar to water jugs, only smaller in size. This worked better, but the metal handle became very hot, burning the hands of the cook. The handle was lengthened, made wooden, and at the same time the jug was equipped with a new spout coming from the top of the vessel.
